Terms of Service

Last updated:

Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the SongDrop application ("the app", "our service"). By using the app, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using SongDrop, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. Our Privacy Policy explains what we do with data and forms part of this agreement.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use SongDrop. By using the app you confirm that you are 13 or older. If you are under the age of majority where you live, you confirm that your parent or guardian has reviewed and agreed to these Terms on your behalf and is responsible for any charges.

You must also comply with the App Store or Google Play terms that apply to your download.

3. Description of Service

You write a short message. SongDrop sends it to a third-party AI music service, which generates a song from it. The song is returned to your device, where you can play it, save it, and share it.

Songs are generated on request and each one costs us money to produce, which is why creating songs requires an active subscription. Playing, saving and sharing songs you have already created does not.

There is no public feed, no profile, no follower system, and no way to discover other users. SongDrop is a tool for making one thing and sending it to one person.

4. No Account

SongDrop does not use accounts. You never create a username or a password, and we never ask for your email address. Your subscription is linked to your App Store or Google Play account and to the install on your device.

The consequence worth knowing is in Section 6: deleting the app removes the local link to your subscription, and Restore Purchases is how you get it back.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

SongDrop is offered as an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the ability to create new songs. There is no per-song charge on top. Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store or Google Play and managed for us by RevenueCat. Key terms:

  • Price and renewal period are shown in the app before you confirm, and on the store listing. Prices vary by country and may change; the store shows the current price, and this page deliberately does not repeat it.
  • Payment is charged to your Apple ID or Google account at confirmation of purchase. We never see or handle your payment details.
  • Subscriptions renew automatically for the same period unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the current period ends.
  • You can manage and cancel your subscription in your App Store or Google Play account settings. Uninstalling the app does not cancel a subscription.
  • Free trial eligibility and terms are determined by the store, and any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
  • Refunds are handled by Apple or Google under their own policies. We cannot issue store refunds directly.

Cancel at any time from your device: on iOS, Settings → your name → Subscriptions; on Android, Play Store → Payments and subscriptions. While your subscription is active, the app's Settings tab also has a Manage Subscription button that opens the store's own screen for you. We cannot cancel a subscription for you — the platforms do not permit an in-app cancel button.

Cancelling stops the next renewal. You keep access until the end of the period you have already paid for, and songs you have already saved stay on your device. Where consumer law gives you a statutory right to cancel or a refund, nothing here limits it.

6. Restoring a Subscription

Because there are no accounts, Restore Purchases in the app's Settings tab is the supported way to reattach a subscription you have already paid for — after a reinstall, a new phone, or a device reset. It is not optional, and it is the only route back.

One device at a time: restoring on a second device normally hands the subscription to that device, and the first one loses access shortly afterwards. That is inherent to having no accounts.

7. Your Songs

The message you write stays yours. By using SongDrop you give us permission to pass it through our own server to our music provider and process it in order to generate your song. We do not store the text; our server records only technical details such as its length, so we can meter usage and bill correctly. We claim no other rights over it and we do not use it to train machine-learning models.

Subject to these Terms and to your subscription being in good standing, we grant you a worldwide, perpetual right to use the songs you create through SongDrop — to keep them, play them, share them privately, and post them publicly. No credit is required.

Two limits are worth understanding before you rely on a song commercially:

  • We cannot grant you exclusivity. The music is produced by an AI model on our provider's systems. Similar prompts can produce similar output for other people, and we make no promise that a song is unique to you.
  • Copyright in AI-generated audio is unsettled. In several countries, work generated without meaningful human authorship may not attract copyright at all — which means you may not be able to stop others using a song you made. If a song matters commercially, take your own legal advice first.

Our music provider's own terms also apply to the audio it produces. Where they are stricter than this section, they govern. We do not publish, sell or distribute your songs, and we hold no copies of them.

8. Acceptable Use and Objectionable Content

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content on SongDrop.

You agree not to create or share content that:

  • is unlawful, defamatory, obscene, pornographic, or sexually explicit;
  • harasses, bullies, threatens, intimidates, or defames any person;
  • impersonates a real person, or imitates a specific artist's voice or identity in a misleading way;
  • promotes hatred or violence against any individual or group;
  • sexualises, endangers, or exploits minors in any way;
  • promotes self-harm, suicide, or dangerous activity;
  • infringes anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or other rights, including reproducing existing song lyrics; or
  • is intended to deceive or defraud.

You also agree not to circumvent the subscription requirement, extract credentials from the app, send automated or high-volume requests to our systems, resell access, reverse engineer any part of the app, or use SongDrop to build a competing service.

Moderation. Messages pass through our music provider's content moderation before a song is written, and may be refused there. That check is theirs, is imperfect in both directions, and we cannot override it — a refusal is not a judgement about you, and an acceptance is not our endorsement. Reporting. If you encounter content or behaviour that violates this section, report it to us at our contact address. We review every report and may remove content, or suspend or permanently terminate access, without notice.

9. How the Music Is Made

Songs are generated by a third-party AI model. This has practical consequences you should expect rather than be surprised by:

  • Songs are not deterministic: the same message will not normally come back as the same song, and when you leave the style blank the app also rolls a fresh style each time. There is no way to reproduce a previous result exactly.
  • Output quality varies. Vocals may mispronounce words, and a song may not match the mood you had in mind. The Recreate button exists for this.
  • A generation may fail, time out, or return something unusable. Where a failure is ours, tell us.
  • Once a request is accepted, the cost is incurred whether or not you like the result, which is why the app does not offer a cancel button mid-generation.

10. Fair Use Limits

Fair-use limits apply today: we cap how many songs one subscription can generate in a period, and how quickly requests can be sent, so you may occasionally be asked to wait and try again. We may adjust these limits to keep the service viable.

11. Notifications

The app may send occasional reminders, scheduled entirely on your device. You can turn them off at any time in your device settings. See our Privacy Policy for detail.

12. Consent to Share Consumption Data with Apple

By using SongDrop and making in-app purchases, you consent to our sharing of data regarding your usage and consumption of purchased content with Apple, as part of our efforts to resolve refund requests. This information may include details about how you have accessed and interacted with the purchased content. The purpose of sharing this data is to help Apple make an informed decision regarding refund requests. We ensure that such data sharing is done in compliance with Apple's policies and only as necessary to process your requests.

13. Intellectual Property

The app, including its design, code, graphics, style catalogue, artwork and branding, is owned by and protected by intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on the app without our written permission. This does not affect your rights in the songs you create, which are covered by Section 7.

14. Service Availability and Changes

We aim to keep SongDrop working but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. It depends on third parties — the music provider, the app stores, and our infrastructure — and any of them can fail or change terms.

We may add, change, or remove features at any time. If we make a change that substantially reduces what an active subscription gets you, we will tell you in the app, and you may cancel. If we discontinue SongDrop entirely, we will give reasonable notice and stop new charges. Songs already on your device are unaffected.

15. Termination

You may stop using SongDrop at any time by cancelling your subscription and deleting the app.

We may suspend or terminate your access for conduct that materially breaches these Terms — in particular Section 8 — or where we must to comply with the law. Where it is reasonable to do so, we will warn you first and give you a chance to put it right. If we end your access without cause, we will ask the relevant store to refund the unused part of your current period.

16. Disclaimer of Warranties

The app is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted or error-free, that any song will be original, suitable, or of a particular quality, or that a generation will succeed. You should not rely on SongDrop as the only copy of anything you value.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded, and if you are a consumer you keep your statutory rights in full.

17. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, and its developers shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the app, including loss of data or loss of songs — including songs lost when a device is reset, replaced or the app is deleted. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our total liability to you for any claim arising out of or relating to the app shall not exceed the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim, or [ set a floor, e.g. twenty-five US dollars ].

We are not liable for the acts or omissions of Apple, Google, or our music provider, beyond our own responsibility for choosing them. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you. These limits do not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or to anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.

18. Apple as Third-Party Beneficiary

These Terms are between you and , not Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its content. Apple has no obligation to provide support for the app. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing claims relating to the app, including product liability, legal-compliance and intellectual-property claims. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

You confirm you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as terrorist-supporting, and are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.

19. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of , without regard to its conflict of law principles. Any dispute not resolved informally will be brought exclusively in the courts located there, and you consent to personal jurisdiction there. Nothing in this section deprives you of the protection of any mandatory consumer-protection law of the country in which you live. If any provision of these Terms is held unenforceable, the rest continues in force.

20. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will change the "Last updated" date above, and where changes are significant we will tell you in the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. If you do not accept them, cancel your subscription and stop using the app.
